Elayne Ogbeta

I have taught ESOL at Salford City College for the past 8 years. I am now a freelance writer. I am currently in the process of working with two theatre companies: Z-arts and Half-moon, who have collaborated with me, in the hope of producing one of my plays for children’s theatre to be toured in England 2022.

I have a BA in Creative Writing. I learned and developed scriptwriting and writing poetry. I completed an MA in Creative Writing for children. That is where I discovered my writing voice for children. I have had several poems published in anthologies and self-published a children’s picture book in 2011 called, ‘Anansi & The Dutchy Pot.’

I have a small gift business (Seasonal Words) where I sell inspirational products such as greeting cards/frames and embroidery on-line.

I am married to Mathias and have two children, Naomi aged 23, who is a professional athlete, and Nathanael, aged 20 who is a professional footballer.

It was while researching about Anansi The Spiderman at MMU that I was reminded of how my father used to tell me stories of this cheeky, but exciting character.  Suddenly, I knew what I wanted  to do. Although there are a number of brilliant stories about Anansi, I thought I would add to the pot.

I have re-told ‘Anansi and the Dutchy Pot’ in a lively and interesting way, using rhyme and rhythm. This hopefully will be the first of many series.

Remember, Anansi first winked at you here!
